Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed the program and think all employees should have to take the program. In order to assist our Patrons we ourselves must be up to date on all kinds of new and emerging technologies. We can pass this knowledge along and make ourselves more useful. I thought I was pretty 2.0 suave and found I needed to learn a few "things." I believe the knowledge I gained from this experience will assist me in both my work and personal life.

I searched the Health and Wellness Resource Center (Gale) for PCOS also know as Polycystic ovary syndrome, which I have. It was easy to get results. I did notice that most of the databases are from Gale. It wouls assist patrons in finding documentation on most subjects. It would be great for doing research papers.

I used the following search engines, Google, Yahoo, Ask, Bing and metacrawler, ixquick, zapmeta, and Yometa. I did a specific search and all of them but Yometa came up with the same top 2 results. I did a search that was a little more non specific and did not find using the later search engines as easy to navigate. I love word clouds etc but could not use Yometa. I like my regular search engines. Google gets to keep me.

I currently use google images, groups and Picasa in my everyday uses. I use images the most. I put in a topic and I can find pictures of it. I sometimes find picture rather than web descriptions easier to navigate when I am look for craft and such. I belong to a few different groups. I am able to keep in touch with people and talk to the group an the topics that matter to us. We can share pictures files and have polls. I find both to be very helpful as well as useful.

Snapshot / Public Library Lovers Month
Yesterday was Snapshot - A Day in the Life of a Public Library. We had our Genealogy volunteers assisting patrons and a childrens craft program. We had a lot more people leave comments than I expected. I took pictures and assisted with the Craft program. I have been getting ready for Public Library Lovers Month. We have Tim Dorsey coming, an outreach at the Senior Center, a puppet show and an adult craft. I am doing the craft and designing al of the signs, bookmarks and posters. I will also be doing the Senior Center event with Pam.

I looked at a couple of the sites. I found most of the free e books were non fiction or classics. I chose to search for newer titles. Google had a nice easy page to navigate. Downside to their site was it was a little hard to dind out what formats they supported. Currently the support Sony Reader, Kindel , Android, I Phone and Ipads. I have see e books listed when I use amazon looking for titles for the library.

I can not say that I enjoyed this THING. I found that alot of the podcasts were blocked. I was able to find a news one. It is the same as listening to a book on audio to me. I started out at podcast.com and had no luck so I tried to google podcast and different subjects. Finally I gave up and went to mediafly and listen to a podcast on CNN. I will try at home and see if I have better luck. If I was using just to listen then they would be nice but I like to a video to go with it.
